Musical Theatre FdA (Foundation Degree)
An exciting course combining strong technical training, creative opportunities and industry experience. The course programme involves the study and practice of both traditional and innovative areas of musical performance. The course includes in-depth vocal training, a wide range of acting techniques and technical dance training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Pas de deux and Commercial.
Students are given the opportunity to perform many times at our own 160 seater Northbrook Theatre and have the chance to present their skills at an agents’ showcase in both Brighton and London . In addition to this, students have benefitted from a range of additional performance opportunities over the last few years. These have included performing
at Earls Court Olympia and Excel as part of the Move it Dance exhibition, creating and performing work at corporate events, Cabarets in bars and pub venues and modelling for clothing designers in catwalk shows.

The final BA year is a unique combination of practical (70%) and academic
The focus of this challenging programme is the development of
the student as an individual through the practice, study and exploration of theatre skills. Collaborative theatre practice, pushing the creative potential of all theatre disciplines, is central to the philosophy of the course. Regular workshop and showcase productions enable students to develop their own skills to professional standards, preparing them for employment or postgraduate study.
Students can either enter employment on
completion of the two year FdA course or
continue their study for a further year to gain
the BA (Hons) degree.
Students have progressed to work in Musical
Theatre in West-end, regional and touring productions, as professional recording artists and dancers and actors in TV and film. Students have also continued to train at Northbrook on our 3rd year or other
institutions including the Royal Academy of
Music, Arts Ed, Mountview and LSMT.
